Dutch Oven Classes

The first class was a hit!!!!
Over the river and thought the woods to A Happy Campers doors she came. Her Chevy knows the way to carry Colleen this way though the white and drifting snow. Dutch Ovens, volcano's, lid lifters and more. All to the joys of the dutch oven classmates that she adores. Breakfast was the theme and all eyes were a gleam. With dutch oven recipes galore. At the end of the class they were all aghast as they stumbled to the door with a full belly and more.

We learned how to season, clean, store, and the history of dutch ovens. Plus of course we had to sample some great dutch oven food!!! Go to the Dutch Oven Tips page and you will find most of it there.

The 2nd Class
This class was a hoot!!! We had stations with different recipes for everyone to help cook. Table # 1 was Layered Stew. "40-Mile Stew” Look on page 26 in the Log Cabon Potato Cookbook. The only problem was they put it in a 12" regular and they should have put it in a 12" deep Dutch Oven. Table # 2 was "Crab Stuffed Potatoes". This was a wonderful surprise!! Yum!!! Yum!! It did take a while to bake the potatoes but it was worth it. Page 17 in the Log Cabin Potato Cookbook. Table # 3 was "Chicken Noodle". Sorry no recipe......they just had to figure out without one. They went through the Chuck Box and went from there. Table # 4 was "Biscuits with Sausage Gravy". We actually did this in a deep skillet on top of a Dutch Oven in the Volcano Stove. Page 48 in the Log Cabin Potato Cookbook.
At the end of the Class we got a big laugh.....it seems that Colleen will not show us her Silver Beaver Award!!!! If I do say myself I might be glad that she does not!!! LOL

The 3rd Class
This was a full class in more was than one. We had the biggest class in out 17 years of business!!! Because of this we will be having an afternoon class next month plus the evening class. We created a new recipe....Cherry, Nut & Bread Surprise!!
We also did Country Meatballs
Mini Pizzas in our Skookie Pans and then in the Camp Chef Stove / Oven
I almost forgot this one!!!
Pineapple & Fruit Cocktail Dessert
Plus the most fun we had was giving the Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome a test drive!!!!
See you next class.

The 4th Class
This is the first class that I know of that we have taken one meat dish and used it from chip dip to Jose's Lasagna (page 19 in the Log Cabin Dutch Oven Cookbook). We also did a Pork or Beef Stroganoff (page 79 in the Log Cabin Camp Fire Cookbook) The Pigs in the Corn Field plus theChip Dip The best recipe of the night was the Baked Stuffed Chicken...you use popcorn as stuffing!!!
If I may say so, this is the first class that has had a ring to it !!!! Sorry, in side joke for those who were in the 6:30 pm. class!!!

The 5th Class
Raspberry Cobbler Dessert
Green Beans with Bacon & Onion
Bacon, Onion and Potato's
Prime Rib
Prime Rib in Rock Salt
